Telangana BharatNet agreement covers 12,769 gram panchayats
A new Telangana BharatNet agreement has ₹3,189 crore in approved central support and plans to cover 12,769 gram panchayats.
The story in brief
Signed on 6 November, the state-led agreement brings together Digital Bharat Nidhi, Telangana, TRIICL, BSNL and T-Fiber. TRIICL will implement the programme, which combines upgrades to existing rural broadband infrastructure with coverage of other panchayats.1 The planned scope comprises 1,946 first-phase panchayats moving to a more resilient network layout, 10,787 second-phase panchayats and 36 newly created ones. The communications ministry expects the initiative to facilitate around three lakh rural home-fibre connections with central subsidy support.1 The agreement and funding approval are rollout steps, not evidence that every listed panchayat or home is already connected.1
Context: Residents should wait for local service availability and connection terms before expecting a new subscription.
