Revised prices for listed cancer medicines take effect on 9 November
Revised maximum retail prices for covered cancer medicines take effect on 9 November under the national drug pricing authority’s margin cap.
The story in brief
The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority’s 17 October order sets a 30% trade margin cap for 137 listed cancer medicines outside the scheduled price list. The cap limits the portion of the retail price added between the distributor and the patient, before GST.1 The government’s 6 November update said 70 companies had reported revised prices for 120 of the medicines by 4 November. A manufacturer’s published list confirms the 9 November start date and gives separate prices by strength and pack size.12 Context: The amount payable depends on the specific medicine, strength and pack on the bill.
Patients and caregivers can check the revised maximum retail price through the pricing authority’s Pharma Sahi Daam service.1
