The story in brief

At a 5 November review, the ministry said the first-phase registration and outpatient buildings had been completed, with inventory checks and formal handover underway. Equipment procurement, staffing and other arrangements still need to support the start of patient services at the Jammu and Kashmir institute.1 Inpatient services are proposed for July 2027, subject to infrastructure and operational readiness. The minister directed completion of remaining construction by March 2027, while MBBS classes are proposed for the 2027–28 session beginning in June–July.1 Outpatient consultations and admission to hospital beds are separate phases, with different announced targets.1

Context: Patients should wait for a confirmed opening and registration notice before planning a visit.
