EPFO: eligible small inactive accounts to settle automatically
EPFO has launched automatic settlement for eligible inactive accounts holding up to ₹1,000, alongside WhatsApp access to balance and passbook information.
The story in brief
The November 1 Labour Ministry release says Aadhaar-verified inoperative accounts need no individual claim. EPFO will initiate payment after prescribed identity and bank-account verification; around one lakh accounts involving ₹5 crore are expected to benefit.1 The verified WhatsApp service will show PF balance, the latest five transactions and passbook information. These are information services; the small-account initiative concerns eligible existing savings, rather than a new ₹1,000 grant for every member.1
Context: Members should check whether their account meets the conditions before expecting automatic payment. The announcement does not establish that every inactive account is covered or that the expected amount has already reached beneficiaries.
Who this matters for: EPF members with small inactive balances or routine service queries

The release gives no WhatsApp number or individual settlement date.
