Digi Yatra international trials: e-passports, selected flights and seven airports
International Digi Yatra trials run in November–December for eligible Indian e-passport holders on selected Air India and IndiGo flights at seven airports.
The story in brief
The Civil Aviation Ministry lists Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin, Mumbai, Chennai and Amritsar. Access covers enabled terminal-entry points, security-hold areas and boarding gates where the necessary infrastructure is available.1 Passengers create an e-passport credential in the Digi Yatra app by scanning the passport, reading its chip with a compatible NFC-enabled phone and completing selfie verification. The credential is kept in the device’s Digi Yatra wallet.1
This is a limited trial whose feedback will guide a wider 2027 rollout. Travellers must still carry travel documents and complete airline checks, immigration and other formalities; the digital credential does not replace those requirements.1
