The story in brief

Announced on 5 November, the Rural Development and Animal Husbandry departments’ advisory covers fodder cultivation and storage, community pastures, eligible animal shelters, milk collection centres and veterinary facilities. It identifies 22 works within the VB–G RAM G rural employment framework, not a separate cash-transfer programme.1 Projects must fit approved permissible works and local Viksit Gram Panchayat Plans, with priorities approved through the Gram Sabha. Individual beneficiaries must meet the applicable selection rules. States are encouraged to move spending towards at least 5% for these works where local needs and approved plans support it.1 Context: This links rural asset creation with livestock needs; it does not automatically approve a shed or grant for every livestock owner.

Context: Check with your Gram Panchayat whether relevant works are included in its approved local plan.

Who this matters for: Livestock-dependent rural households
