Pune’s Pink Line inaugurated; four Phase-II corridors get foundation stones
Pune Metro Line 3 has been inaugurated between the Hinjewadi area and Shivajinagar; four additional corridors remain Phase-II development projects.
The story in brief
The Prime Minister inaugurated the Hinjawadi–Shivajinagar corridor by video on 3 November. The earlier project brief describes Line 3, or Pink Line, as approximately 23 km from Maan to District Court, built for over ₹8,300 crore.12 Foundation stones were also laid for Phase-II, estimated at around ₹13,500 crore. It covers Lines 2A, 2B, 4 and 4A, including Vanaz–Chandani Chowk, Ramwadi–Vitthalwadi, Kharadi–Khadakwasla and Nal Stop–Manik Baug.12 The Pink Line connects the Hinjewadi IT area with Shivajinagar. Phase-II extensions are future projects, not four newly opened passenger routes.12
Context: IT-area commuters should distinguish the inauguration announcement from a confirmed journey timetable.
