The story in brief

The Rural Development Ministry’s October 31 release puts the estimated cost at ₹710.40 crore. The approvals form the first batch under the fourth phase of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana for 2026–27.1 Rural Development Ministry: The ministry expects the proposed links to improve access to schools, hospitals and rural markets. It separately reports 367 road works and seven bridges already sanctioned under PMGSY in Mizoram; sanctioned does not mean completed.1

Context: For residents, the immediate development is project approval. It does not establish that the new routes are open or that travel times have changed. Construction progress and eventual all-weather access still need to be checked.

Who this matters for: Residents of Mizoram’s proposed rural-road service areas
