Local highway toll pass starts November 1: eligibility and limits
Eligible residents within 20 km of a national-highway toll plaza get a new annual local-pass option from November 1. It covers one specified plaza only.
The story in brief
Under the October 27 announcement, non-commercial vehicle owners need a functional FASTag. The annual charge is ₹1,500 for plazas outside municipal or local-town limits and ₹3,000 for those inside; the existing monthly-pass option remains.1 The pass cannot transfer between plazas. It excludes closed user-fee collection systems and locations where a service road or alternative road is available, so living nearby alone does not establish eligibility.1
Eligible plazas will offer the pass from November 1; the Rajmargyatra app route starts December 1. These are separate start dates, and the pass should not be confused with unrestricted travel across the highway network.1
