India and EU finish talks on Horizon Europe research participation
India and the European Union have finished talks on joining part of Horizon Europe, a programme that funds research teams working together across borders.
The story in brief
India’s science ministry announced the outcome on 7 November. The talks cover the programme’s second pillar, which supports joint research in fields including health, digital technology, energy and mobility.13 Indian organisations can already take part in many Horizon Europe projects, but generally bring their own funding. The ministry says association would give Indian research teams, universities and companies wider access to funding calls and European project partners.12
Context: A research team planning a joint proposal should check the rules of the individual funding call. The completion of talks does not itself change who can receive money under a current call.12
Who this matters for: Indian researchers and research organisations
