The story in brief

The Defence Ministry’s 4 November announcement retains the existing route offering regular employment to 25% of Agniveers on merit. For the remaining 75%, the Cabinet approved a further two-year engagement, depending on their willingness.1 After that additional period, regular enrolment will be offered subject to willingness and meeting selection criteria. The Ministry says the second engagement will bring higher remuneration, an enhanced Seva Nidhi package and seniority benefits; it gives no amounts in this release.1 Context: This creates an additional service pathway for serving Agniveers. Regular absorption remains conditional on the stated requirements, rather than automatic.

Context: This is a service-policy announcement; the release does not open a fresh recruitment application window.
