ESIC amnesty extended to December 31: eligible cases and payment conditions
ESIC has extended its New Amnesty Scheme 2025 to December 31, 2026. It offers eligible dispute settlements under existing conditions, rather than a blanket waiver of dues.
The story in brief
The October 29 announcement covers court cases filed up to March 31, 2025. For ad-hoc assessments, settlement requires actual contributions and interest, with no damages levied.1 Where employers have already paid dues, withdrawal can require 10% of disputed damages. Cases over records or delayed payments that were later complied with may be withdrawn with court permission; the conditions differ by case type.1
Context: Employers and insured persons should check whether their case fits the scheme before relying on the extension. A later closing date does not itself cancel liability, settle every case or create a new cash benefit.
Who this matters for: Employers and insured persons with relevant ESIC disputes
Words explained
- Contribution
- Required ESI payments.
